Cover Your Hearts: A Night of Guilty Pleasure Love Songs
Cover Your Hearts was launched in 2008 by local shoegazers Charmparticles as a way for local musicians to give back to their community. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the first Cover Your Hearts & features CYH veterans Dr. Theopolis, Jonah, Risley, The Loved, Bryan Free & Jaycob Van Auken, as well as relative newcomers Camp Crush, & 80HD.

Coinciding with Valentine's Day, the benefit pairs local musicians with 80s songs about love, breaking up, and... getting intimate. Proceeds from the show benefit The Jeremy Wilson Foundation, a local charity dedicated to providing emergency financial assistance and to improving the overall well-being of individual musicians and their families during times of medical crisis.

Past performances, such as Bryan Free's now-legendary Pat Benatar/Linda Ronstadt/Yes set from 2010, Dr. Theopolis' touching rendition of Extreme's "More than Words," Jaycob Van Auken's shirt-ripping cover of Foreigner's "Hot Blooded," Derby's sultry "I Wanna Sex You Up" from Color Me Badd, and Metal Bear's raucous version of "Girls, Girls, Girls" have been included in lists of Portland's musical highlights.
Dr. Theopolis
Dr. Theopolis
Created in 2001 by brothers Jules and Ezra Holbrook, Dr. Theopolis grew out a fun party band into monster hit writing machine. The majority of its fans are females; approximately 70%. Besides looking the part of fly 70s pimps, Dr. Theopolis brings along a dancer whom they call "Mr. Fabulous." The sole role of Mr. Fabulous is to get "all fired up," ya dig?
Risley is a band. Risley was a cat. Risley is from Portland, Oregon. Risley released a full-length, self-titled debut album in 2016 featuring the principle songwriting of Michael Deresh (Tea for Julie, The Makeout Scene) and Travis Stanek (Tea for Julie, Green Circles). Additionally, it featured contributions from Matthew Hall (Genders, Paper Brain), Stephen Leisy (Genders, Moonshy), Maggie Morris (Genders, Sunbathe), Alex Fitch (Typhoon), Rian Lewis (Crosstide, Priory), Wylie Foster (Matt Brown Band, Powder), John Dwyer (Tea for Julie, The Noted), Jeremy Allen (Strange to Look at, The Nasty Truth) and was recorded at Lamplight Studios.
The Loved
The Loved may be a new name to you, but its members should be no strangers to the ears of Portland, Ore. Led by songwriter and guitarist Lael Alderman, and featuring the rock solid rhythm section of Daven Hall (The Bella Fayes, Thrillbilly) & Jake Endicott (Oh Darling, Revival Drum Shop), this trio believes in the simple power of 3 chords and the truth. They believe every great song needs a great melody. They know music should move you.

The Loved are currently releasing singles for their upcoming full-length album due out later in 2016.
Camp Crush
Camp Crush
Camp Crush is New Wave rock coming out of Portland, OR. With similarities to their musical influences like The Cure, Blondie and Depeche Mode, Camp Crush’s music is a blend of vintage danceable new-wave and modern indie rock with horns, reminiscent of Rubblebucket and Tennis. Camp Crush is releasing their debut LP spring 2018.
