Pink Martini
Pink Martini
This fine group of musicians (from the classically trained to jazz to Latin specialists) put their unique spin on a melange of styles. The world they create is a cinematic, refreshing mix of light and dark. It's as if Henry Mancini'™s Experiment in Terror were playing behind Doris Day in Pillow Talk. The swank, lush beauty is there but sorrowful strains come through, showing the cracks and fissures in the polyester smiles.

Comprised of twelve musicians, Pink Martini performs its multilingual repertoire on concert stages with symphony orchestras throughout Europe, Asia, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, Northern Africa, Australia and New Zealand and North America. Says Lauderdale, "all of us in Pink Martini have studied different languages as well as different styles of music from different parts of the world, so inevitably our repertoire is wildly diverse. At one moment, you feel like you're in the middle of a samba parade in Rio de Janeiro, and in the next moment, you're in a French music hall of the 1930s or palazzo in Napoli. It's a bit like an urban musical travelogue."

"This is rich, hugely approachable music, utterly cosmopolitan yet utterly unpretentious. And it seems to speak to just about everybody...from grade-schoolers to grandmothers to the young and hip and beautiful." - The Washington Post
"Chervona" – International Nuclear Powered Folk (Gypsy, Klezmer, Jazz, Dixieland, Polka, Ska, Punk) band and ultimate dance party machine.

Mixing together taste and passion of the best Gypsy, Russian, Ukrainian, Klezmer and Balkan musical traditions, Chervona brings the fire of Eastern European carnivals to the land of America.

With their authenticity and genuine fire Chervona has stolen many hearts. Shining with their brass section and capturing soul with the traditional sounds of the old world and new interpretations, Chervona transforms a celebration into an ultimate party! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and pretty underwear - Chervona's parties are known for people dancing all night and taking off their clothes!

The band started practicing in Nov of 2006, and within first weeks of its existence they played at "Gypsymania" – gypsy dance discotheque created by Gogol Bordello's debaucher D.J. Dimon. After their first public appearances they rapidly gained popularity in the home town. As an addition to countless street performances Chervona have played quite a few big stages. Among them Slavic Festival and Oregon Country Fair, Red Marines festival in California, April Fool's Day Carnival, Revolution Party in Portland,Folk Life festival in Seattle.
In 2007 Chervona played some special appearances with world famous Manu Chao and Gogol Bordello.
