Black Filmmaker Fellowship Celebration
Black Filmmaker Fellowship Celebration
The first program of its kind in the state of Oregon, Open Signal Lab’s fellowship for Black filmmakers addresses the stark lack of Black voices in the film and television industry. It convenes six emerging filmmakers from Portland’s Black community for a 12-month fellowship, including professional training, mentorship and the development of new work.
Open Signal Labs is an initiative of Open Signal, a media arts center making media production possible for anyone and everyone in Portland, Oregon. Launched in 2017, the center builds upon the 35-year legacy of Portland Community Media to create a resource totally unique in the Pacific Northwest. Open Signal offers media workshops, a public equipment library, artist residencies and five cable channels programmed with locally produced content. Open Signal delivers media programming with a commitment to creativity, technology and social change.
